Party At The Pool

Last night I had a great time hosting Sunny 102’s Party At The Pool at the United Inn on Buckley Road.  The band was The Billionaires and they are wonderful. Their playlist is made up of the kinds of great dance tunes we play at Sunny 102 (lots of Earth, Wind and Fire, Madonna, Kool and the Gang, Prince); so if you ever get the chance, catch The Billionaires. The weather was very nice and that helped bring out a large crowd. It was a very casual good time, sitting around the pool, enjoying a drink and food, listening to great music.  Friday nights this summer it’s the place to be! Next week it’ll be the music of SAMMY Award winners Stroke!

Wipeout!

A guilty pleasure.  Have you seen this show?   It is an absurd competition with strange athletic challenges, lots of water and foam, and things that punch and you bounce off of huge balls and land in mud, and it really is very funny.

Jazz In The Square

Looking forward to it … Sunny102 has been a sponsor since it began and this year may be the best yet.  It starts this evening on Clinton Square at 5PM with the Sunny 102 Happy Hour ! Then we get to hear Ronnie Leigh and Nancy Kelly with the Syracuse Symphony at 8PM … WOW! So come and enjoy the music … it’s all FREE!

Rick

Rick Gary is wearing short sleeves now … he says he has the right to bare arms!

Parrotfest a great time!

Good morning, it’s Steve Kelley, takin’ a second in the studio, filling for Big Mike this week, to write to you.  Good to hang out with you this morning for Big Mike, along with Brit, Keith, and Mike Ellis.

Great to see so many of you at Corona Parrotfest this past Saturday.  What a great time, and so many enthusastic Sunny 102 listeners.  Thanks for all the fun trying to win those crazy parrot hats!  And how ’bout that conga line and the great music from Northern Harbour!?  Keep listening for our next event, and thanks for listening to me fill in for Big Mike this week.

If you were paying attention, you know we announced the Sunny Summer Song this morning… which today is Summer Nights from Olivia Newton John and John Travolta… listen for it this afternoon between noon and three to get a chance to win that 27 grand from the NY Lottery. Okay, it’s now 8:37 a.m., my song from Spiral Staircase is just about to end, gotta talk on the radio, see ya.

Excellent Concert on the Beach

I went to Jones Beach this past weekend and saw Chicago and the Doobie Brothers perform together. It was a phenomenal show!!! We got so lucky, the weather was perfect and the venue is right on the beach. Their opening act was an Italian singer, Neko. I think he won most of the ladies with his good looks and quick dance moves. Then the Doobie Brothers did their act, when they played Black Water people jumped out of their seats to help be vocal backup!!! I don’t remember the name of the song but the Doobies are doing some bluegrass stuff now, that was really cool. My friend who went with me is a huge Chicago fan, so when they took the stage he was in awwwwwhhhh. My favorite part of the show was at the end when Chicago and the Doobie Brothers came out on stage together and play “Listen to the Music”, “Saturday in the Park” and “25 or 6 to 4”. Even though most everyone at the show was my parent’s age I absolutely enjoyed the experience. It was nice to be at a concert with no drunken people and crowd surfing, a great family friend show. I encourage everyone to see these two bands in concert if you have the chance.

good to be back, I think!

Thanks Mike for the kind words(?) welcoming me back from a short trip through Pa. on motorcycle. When I returned I found Channel 9 in a layoff, get rid of turmoil, I guess I have been sparred for now. However, friend and longtime icon of CNY Mike Price is retiring or so they say. He will be missed. Thanks Mike Price my bloody buddy, a job well done for 46 years…well, we at least still have the Biggest of all Mikes left..Big Mike..old or not he still remains Big and hopefully still my old friend.

Teacher’s Night Out was a BLAST!

Another fun party, BIG turnout … and a little scary seeing how crazy many of the teachers behaved (one teach put on Mr. Sun and goosed me). Thanks to all for making it a great time!
