Wow…June already, and here comes one of my favorite events…Taste of Syracuse. What a great couple of days! Please join us Friday and Saturday…Sunny 102’s tent is a the corner of Water and Franklin…we’ll all be there and of course, Big Mike will be hosting the Sammy Awards on the main stage Friday night and emcee-ing Paige’s Butterfly Run on Saturday morning, sooo much to see and do.
I’m sorry that my wife will not be here to take in the event, as it’s one of her faves. As I have mentioned in previous posts she is serving a tour of duty in Iraq with her co-workers from The 174th Fighter Wing. She has been over there almost a week now…the kids are doing alright, however, my youngest, Nicholas(21 months) doesn’t understand at all, he just knows Mommy isn’t around. It’s tough hearing him wander from room to room calling “Momma”. If you’ll indulge me, I will be writing about all of this over the summer, as a way to keep it all in perspective…therapy. Please keep my wife and all of the members of the military in your thoughts and prayers.
Oh, one other thing, while we’re on the subject. I was over by the Korean/Vietnam war memorial this afternoon on my lunch break and was disgusted to see that many people use it as a trash recepticle. There were empty rum and beer bottles, hotdogs wrappers, even potatoes! Speaking as a spouse of a Vet, is it too much to expect it and other Vet memorials be kept up? Very disappointing to say the least.
