Excellent Concert on the Beach

I went to Jones Beach this past weekend and saw Chicago and the Doobie Brothers perform together. It was a phenomenal show!!! We got so lucky, the weather was perfect and the venue is right on the beach. Their opening act was an Italian singer, Neko. I think he won most of the ladies with his good looks and quick dance moves. Then the Doobie Brothers did their act, when they played Black Water people jumped out of their seats to help be vocal backup!!! I don’t remember the name of the song but the Doobies are doing some bluegrass stuff now, that was really cool. My friend who went with me is a huge Chicago fan, so when they took the stage he was in awwwwwhhhh. My favorite part of the show was at the end when Chicago and the Doobie Brothers came out on stage together and play “Listen to the Music”, “Saturday in the Park” and “25 or 6 to 4”. Even though most everyone at the show was my parent’s age I absolutely enjoyed the experience. It was nice to be at a concert with no drunken people and crowd surfing, a great family friend show. I encourage everyone to see these two bands in concert if you have the chance.

good to be back, I think!

Thanks Mike for the kind words(?) welcoming me back from a short trip through Pa. on motorcycle. When I returned I found Channel 9 in a layoff, get rid of turmoil, I guess I have been sparred for now. However, friend and longtime icon of CNY Mike Price is retiring or so they say. He will be missed. Thanks Mike Price my bloody buddy, a job well done for 46 years…well, we at least still have the Biggest of all Mikes left..Big Mike..old or not he still remains Big and hopefully still my old friend.

RICK GARY IS BACK!!!!

As you know Rick was on vacation last week. Just one week, but it seemed like forever.  Yeah, I admit I missed him. Sure, he deserved the time off, with his Radio show, TV show, fundraising efforts for the Miracle Ride, Children’s Hospital, and more.  And his jokes are not always so funny and when he’s all dressed in leather on his bike he can be a bit scary. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t miss him (like crazy). To Rick, my old friend (and I do mean old): welcome back!

My Fun Friday

Friday afternoon,  I went over to the Wynwood Senior Residence in Manlius and was a judge for their chocolate contest.  I sampled a variety of delicious chocolate cake, mousse, fudge, brownies and a thick pudding concoction that included heath bar bits (that was declared the winner).  Yes, I am a busy man but sampling chocolate is never a waste of time.  Then I had a great time hosting the The Pool Party  at the United Inn on Buckley Road with the great band Prime Time.  What fun!  You must come out on Friday nights and join us (NO cover charge).

Teacher’s Night Out was a BLAST!

Another fun party, BIG turnout … and a little scary seeing how crazy many of the teachers behaved (one teach put on Mr. Sun and goosed me). Thanks to all for making it a great time!

Funny excuses for being late to work!

Mornings can be rough…  helping the kids with last-minute homework, eating breakfast too quickly, finding your car keys or your glasses, stuck in construction traffic delays, whatever!  It can get crazy.  If you’re like most folks sometimes it just happens…. you end up late for work.  Uggh!  But here’s some advice according to Careeerbuilder.com.  Don’t use one of these REAL excuses for being late to work.  They compiled this list of ten… and yes, they are real!

1.  While rowing across the river to work, I got lost in the fog.

2.  Someone stole all my daffodils.

3.  I had to go audition for American Idol.

4.  My ex-husband stole my car so I couldn’t drive to work.

5.  My route to work was shut down by a presidential motorcade.

6.  I have transient amnesia and couldn’t remember my job.

7.  I was indicted for securities fraud this morning.

8.  The line was too long at Starbucks.

9.  I was trying to get my gun back from the police.

10.  I didn’t have money for gas because all of the pawnshops were closed.

Here’s my advice… just listen to Big Mike, he’ll keep you on track in the morning.

P.S.  Lunchtime reward today at noon… win something tasty from Panera Bread.
