According to the weather genies, this summer should be a long hot one..give or take a 50% chance of them being right with a slight chance of the summer being normal, interrupted only by the chance that nothing is always right. OK,,so that lends itself for Bridge Street week of cleaning your deck, and starting a garden. Monday Cameron Mathison pays a visit, you remember him on Dancing With Stars he’s also in one of those soft porn soaps in the afternoon and Thurs its shearing an Alpaca. Wow what a transition!!
Hope to see you bikers at the Miracle Ride this Sunday, rain or shine, although it looks like just a chance of scattered showers. Big Mike will be there, not riding, but eating the great Barbeque at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant…yummy, yummy it’s food for the tummy!!! Ride safe, see you around the bush, until we eat again,rg.

It looks like I’m the last one to chime in with a blog, so here goes . . . Just a couple of quick thoughts on one of my favorite shows, American Idol. I couldn’t be happier that David Cook is in the top 2. I had him as my favorite from the start. I’m confident he’ll win as well. Now that I think about it, many of my favorite shows are these reality-type shows. I love Top Chef, Project Runway, Survivor, and of course American Idol. This is what happens to me every year during the Syracuse winter months, I get hooked on these kooky shows. Now that the weather is getting better, tv will take a back seat to planting flowers, pulling weeds and swatting mosquitos. On second thought, where’s my remote!!

I know how the Utah kids at Murray High School feel about David Archuleta. Red Buttons graduated from my old high school. Not in the same year as me, as he was much older and already a huge star when I was going there. But we were always so proud when we saw him on the Dean Martin Roast (yet they never had a dinner for him …). Red Buttons, gone but not forgotten … he was great, yes? David Archuleta is the Red Buttons of today.

Well…no real surprise, based on Tuesday night’s performance, Sieesha(Syeesha) was sent on her way on Wednesday’s American Idol. But, as always, a record deal is waiting for her…she’s a talent. Good Lord, if Taylor Hicks can win the season, anything’s possible.
‘Tis the season for home and yard improvements. All you have to do is stand in the front yard of my place and spin slowly(not that I do that a lot) and you’ll see some sort of activity going on at almost every property in my neighborhood. I’m no exception…we have quite a few projects underway(and not enough time to complete them all.) I got the opportunity to destroy and remove a real eyesore of a shed last night and didn’t realize how therapeutic doing something like that can be. Total disregard for where the chips fell…just smash and tear!!! Now, I have to put up the new one, a little more cafefully of course.
I hope you’re having a great day,
Ted

Well, isn’t this cool! We get to “blog”! Oh great, letting radio DJs have another way to express themselves! Sounds dangerous. Take me, for example. Ted Bradford kids me about how “warm” I am on the radio… but let me tell ya… I can rant and rave with the best of ‘em! You might expect a warm and fuzzy first blog from Steve Kelley, but look out!
Here’s a rant… it’s 8:45 a.m. and I’m getting ready for my drive in to the radio station, heading east on 690… I’m preparing myself even now for the eighteen crazy drivers that will be cutting me off today, like every day, on our way through the road construction from the fairgrounds to about Hiawatha Blvd! Don’t you just love it, everyone in a rush to get to work, trying to squeeze into one lane!? My advice– relax, plan some extra time if you can, listen to Big Mike on the way, and slow down! You’ll save gas! (Hey, by the way, how about that Val Pak contest we’re doing!? Money for gas… or the way I look at it… money for twinkies!! Oh, wait, I can’t win!)
Have a great day… maybe I’ll write something “warm” next time. Oh, by the way, listen today for the Lunchtime Reward at noon to win tickets to see Tyler Florence at the Turning Stone! And a Burger King gift card! Perfect for me… give me a gourmet meal or a cheeseburger anyday, and I’m happy! (Is there a food theme developing here?)

Young David versus Younger David. Simon already picked Cook … maybe he can’t spell Archuleta. I liked Simon until he trashed one of my favorite songs, “Longer”. Simon said it was a horrible song. He is WRONG! I had the chance to interview Dan Fogelberg about 15 years ago and he was delightful. I asked him to do me a favor and call my younger sister (a huge Fogelberg fan) and he did! She wasn’t home but he left a message on her answering machine … she still has that cassette (remember when answering machines had cassettes?). Dan Fogelberg was a great musician (saw him three times; twice at the Landmark) and he was one of the best songwriters (”Run For The Roses”, “Leader of the Band”, “Same Old Lang Syne”, “Hard To Say”, and of course “Longer”, “Netherlands” and the entire “Twins Sons Of Different Mothers”). Sorry, Simon, but you are an IDIOT!

So, it seems that all the stuff we dont have the time to talk about on the radio because we play sooo much music now has an outlet…here! It’s great to see everyone returning their Sunny 102 Val-pak coupon stubs…we’re sure getting a lot…keep them coming. The promise of instant gas and/or food money is very attractive! Believe me, with 3 growing kids, two thirsty cars and a boat, I totally undertand the lure of free cash. Incidently, Big Mike has our first drawing tomorrow morning @ 7:20…I hope you’re a winner. Speaking of gas, as I look around the area, it almost looks as if we could hit 4 dollars a gallon within days…OUCH!!! Bicycles anyone?? I would certainly peddle back and forth to work everyday if I didn’t need to drop two of my kids off at daycare first. Sure Ted, blame it on the kids. Idol tonight…see ya later Sieesha!
We’ll talk later,
Ted Bradford

How about that, we can’t pet Siri anymore, what’s next.. we can’t touch the fish when we catch them? Boo on the DEC, they should have researched this one a little better and taken it on a case by case basis, Siri thinks she did something wrong when she can’t greet the kids after her performance! This could be disastrous to her health, depression for an animal that has a great memory for the good times. I’m all for elephant rights..how about some attorneys for their defense(to be touched again),perhaps the Heavy Hitters?
I hope you can ride with me this Sunday in the 14th annual Miracle Ride to benefit the Golisano Children’s Hospital at University Hospital. Registration starts at 9am at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant on Thompson Road..ride leaves at 11:30..Its a new route this year with the same great food when we return. If you just want to enjoy the barbeque you can do that too. Take a chance on a new Kawasaki motorcycle ..second place prize is two tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. compliments of Bti Travel.
